Training and Technical Assistance for Foreign Governments
Welcome to the Financial Management Service's International Government Training & Technical Assistance Web site.
Upon request, FMS, a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, assists foreign governments in areas related to FMS' role as the U.S. government's central financial manager. FMS provides central payment services for all Executive Branch agencies, operates the federal government's collections and deposit systems, provides governmentwide accounting and reporting services, and manages the collection of delinquent debt owed the U.S. government.
FMS provides training and technical assistance in the following areas:
- Development of government payments services
- Development of a claims process for lost, stolen, and forged payments
- Management of revenue collection and deposit systems
- Management of governmentwide accounting systems
- Management of governmentwide financial reporting systems
- Management of trust, revolving, and deposit fund accounts
- Development and administration of government policies and practices for cash, credit, and asset management
- Development and management of governmentwide delinquent debt collection programs
How Can We Help?
FMS offers the following services:
- Consultations on government financial management issues
- Training programs and conferences in host countries or the United States on government financial management theories and practical applications
- Internship opportunities
FMS receives no funding to support the provision of these services. For this reason FMS' ability to assist depends on the availability of FMS experts.
