Employment at the Financial Management Service

Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)

What is the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP)?

The Student Career Experience (SCEP) Program (formerly Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a planned and progressive educational program that offers many advantages. By combining your academic studies with on-the-job experience, the SCEP helps you gain the experience you need to obtain the job of your choice.

Designed to be a partnership between you, your school, and the Financial Management Service, the SCEP will help you:

  • Gain professional experiences in your chosen field;

  • Develop confidence, interpersonal skills, and professional work habits;

  • Increase your motivation and desire to learn.

Competitive Pay and Benefits

As a SCEP student, you start earning a salary now! Your rate of pay will depend on your education and work experience.

As your responsibilities increase, your pay reflects your experience, talents and contributions. Pay-for-performance systems are in place to provide increases and awards for motivated SCEP students.

There are many ways to work in the SCEP. Schedules may alternate full-time work experiences with full semesters or quarters of study in school, or there may be part-time positions with parallel periods of study. You will work with your school and employer to design a schedule that works best for you.
