FMS Organization: Governmentwide Accounting

Who are we?

Governmentwide Accounting is one of the six major sub-divisions in FMS.

Its mission is to provide centralized financial accounting and reporting services and policy relating to the federal government's financial and operational performance to the Congress, customer agencies, American citizens, and other stakeholders.

What do we do?

Governmentwide Accounting provides the financial infrastructure for the central Governmentwide Accounting of all federal financial transactions. This infrastructure results in the accumulation and publication of governmentwide financial information. The Governmentwide Accounting accomplishes its mission by providing, operating, and managing financial resources and systems, and setting standards for data integrity and reporting. With recent legislative changes, the Governmentwide Accounting is responsible for producing the newly required Audited Consolidated Financial Statements (ACFS) of the U.S. Government.

Governmentwide Accounting is currently looking to hire a cadre of accountants to learn and prosper in an exciting financial field. Qualified candidates will have at least 24 hours in accounting course work.

It is located in Hyattsville, Maryland at the suburban office of FMS headquarters on the Metro's Green Line (Prince George's Plaza Station). Additionally, on-site parking is available for employees and the offices are within a mile of the University of Maryland, College Park campus.
